Low Back Pain Coach for iPhone
Guided training to build strength and confidence in your back. You train on a 45-degree back-extension bench, log how your back feels the next morning, and the app sets the next session's holds, reps, rest and weight from that log.
What it does
- A voice counts each hold, rep and rest out loud, so the phone can stay on the floor.
- Four stages on the bench: holds at the top of the extension, partial reps, full reps, then weighted reps. You move up a stage when your recent sessions and pain logs meet that stage's target.
- Logging pain in your legs stops the extension work, and the app shows when to get emergency care now or see a clinician today.
- Flare-up mode pauses bench work, then restarts smaller when your logs settle.
- A calendar and graphs show your pain against your baseline, with steps and sleep from Apple Health beside it if you allow it.
- A PDF of your training and pain history to give a doctor or physical therapist.
- Short lessons on how long-running pain works.
- Works offline. Sign in to sync your logs between devices and app.lowbackpaincoach.com.
What you need
A 45-degree back-extension bench, at a gym or at home (what to look for). The program is not written for the vertical 90-degree Roman chair. No bench yet? The app starts you on a short floor routine until you have one.
An iPhone on iOS 15 or later.
What it costs
The download and your first guided session are free. After that it is $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year, each with a 7-day free trial if you are eligible. Subscriptions renew until you cancel in your App Store account settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before a trial ends to avoid a charge. These are US prices; the App Store shows yours before you confirm.
Before you start
The app is exercise guidance and education. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition. Check with a clinician before you start, and read the signs that need care first.
